The second developer milestone on Mozilla Firefox 2 path is Bon Echo Alpha 2. This milestone focuses on the test of the main functions offered by the numerous changes and features palnned for Mozilla Firefox 2. The current plans for this firefox 2 are going on at the Bon Echo planning center, irc.mozilla.org and mozilla.dev.planning.
The changes needing feedback on this milestone includes:
- appearance of close buttons on each tab, with an altogether different behaviour of closing;
- links set on default opening in new tabs, and not windows;
- inline spell checks for texts;
- automated restore feature of browsing session, in case of system crash;
- appearance of search suggestions in auto-complete search boxes for Yahoo! and Google;
- advanced assistance for web feeds subscriptions and web feeds previewing;
- new bookmark microsummaries characteristics;
- new search plugin manager for re-ordering and removing search engines;
- firefox extension system update offering advanced security and allowing easy localization of firefox extension;
- modified search services which assists Sherlock and engines for OpenSearch;
- assistance with SVG text with the use of svg:textPath;
- new Add-ons manager which improves the user interface for the management of firefox extensions and themes.
The start page for Bon Echo has been altered to enable easy testing for provision of feedback and reporting bugs. Mozilla firefox 2 is not an advance stage for Mozilla firefox users. So you have to upgrade to Firefox 2 if you are still using a lower version than Firefox 2.
