Installing your desired firefox theme

With formalities past, you now proceed with the actual task. Prior to viewing the modifications made to a firefox theme (because performing live editing is restricted and hard to set up) it is necessary to master how to repackage he classic theme inorder to install it. To facilitate this particular discussion, let us refer to your theme as “My_Theme”, (although the choice of name is all yours).

Procedure:

The first action involves copying all files into the correct directory structure. Therefore, make a new directory called My_Theme into which you will subsequently insert the browser, global, communicator, help, and mozapps directories earlier discussed, and also the icon.png files. (Indeed this implies that your new directory and classic.jar will slightly vary in structure). Secondly, create the install files located on the Contents.rdf. To perform this, make a copy of contents.rdf,put it in \My Theme and open it in your text editor. This file is a small XML Database for describing the skin. From now on, whenever codesearching “My_Theme”, replace them with the name of your theme. To keep track of the changes you are undertaking is the packages section, so all you need to do is modify the blue text inorder to coincide with the needed name/version used in the previous sections.

After this, just save the file and exit text editor.
